Now in it's 33rd year, the Irish Bouldering League was started in 1993 by Calvin Torrans and is one of the longest continuously running climbing leagues in the world. It is a core part of the Irish climbing scene. With 5 rounds spanning from October to February, it's a great way to be social and to stay motivated  through those long winter months! 

This year we have a revamped format, exciting new range of age categories, and live results as you go! We are excited to be visiting Dublin, Cork and Limerick on our National Irish Bouldering League tour 2026.

This competition is open to all levels of climber and each round will last for a two-week period. Each round comprises 30 boulders ranging in difficulty and style, so there will be plenty to challenge every climber from new climbers to seasoned pros! This is a great opportunity to climb and socialise with others, whilst still testing your skills on a great selection of competition style problems. If you haven't tried it out, this the year to do so!

• The Irish Bouldering League is a flash format bouldering competition.
• This is a self judged competition using the Vertical Life Scorecard App.

• There are 30 boulders in each round. All competitors can attempt all thirty boulders.

• Competitors can attempt the boulders anytime within the two week period.

• Beginner to experienced level climbers; aged 14 years and above (please reach out to your local climbing centre where your child climbs if you have any questions regarding suitability ).
• Male and female climbers.
• There are 6 categories for each gender.
• 19+ Open Categories are open to anyone aged 19 or above. (Competitors 30+ 40+ and 50+ can choose to compete in their own age category or in the Open category)
• Age Categories are by birth year, not actual birthday
• eg. Birthday in any month in 1996 = 30+ age category)

• You must complete all of the normal entry requirements of the host climbing wall and pay into the wall as normal.
• Entry to the IBL is only accepted online. Please follow the registration links above for each event ( you must register as an athlete on the Vertical Life system before you can register for the competition. If you have competed in other  competitions that use Verticle Life - you already have an account on the system)
• Entry fee per round is: €3 for MI member, and €5 for non-member.
• Entry must be completed for each round competing in.
• Entry must be paid online at time of registration.

Overall League results will be posted here when all rounds have been completed.
