Mountaineering Ireland is delighted to announce our Club Online Workshop Series which will run from late January through to early March 2026. This is a collection of practical, engaging sessions designed to support clubs in strengthening governance, improving communication, enhancing member experience, and embracing inclusion.
Exploring the Mountaineering Ireland Club Toolkit
Join us on Tuesday 27th January at 7pm for a practical workshop exploring the Mountaineering Ireland Club Toolkit - focusing on governance, club structure, growth, and good membership management.
What will be covered:
- Roles and responsibilities of each committee member, ensuring that all members understand their specific duties, the importance of teamwork.
- How to attract new members.
- Navigating and managing MI's membership database effectively.
- Resources available such as GDPR guidance, risk assessment tools, and code of conduct and complaints procedures.
This workshop is ideal for club committee members who are involved in the daily running of their clubs. This session will focus on the topics related to the club toolkit requested at registration.
Club Social Media Success Workshop
Join us on the 3rd February - @ 7pm to learn how to make your club stand out on social media and reach more members!
What will be covered:
- How social media can help build your club’s identity, reach new audiences, and get your message out effectively.
- Discover topic ideas and insights into what’s trending and what works well.
- Learn simple tips for capturing compelling visuals, choosing the right layout, and creating short videos that grab attention.
- Explore the differences between stories, single image versus carousel posts, reels, and more.
- Tagging, collaboration features, hashtags, and best posting times.
- Practical strategies to connect with your followers and encourage interaction.
This workshop is ideal for club members handling social media, committee members, or anyone interested in communication and club promotion and will be beginner friendly.
Digital Navigation with the HiiKER App
Join us on 10th February @ 7pm for an interactive session with Pete Britton from HiiKER and discover how to take your outdoor adventures to the next level with digital navigation!
What will be covered:
- Understand how to browse and use detailed digital trail maps on the app.
- Discover how to digitally plan your route
- Learn how to save maps for use without signal or data.
- Create, customise, and follow routes using HiiKER’s digital tools.
Whether you are new to digital mapping or looking to improve your planning skills, this workshop will offer practical insights and hands-on tips.
Accessible Club Toolkit Workshop
Join us on the 17th Feb @ 7pm for this practical session facilitated by Active Disability Ireland designed specifically for Mountaineering Ireland hillwalking and climbing clubs looking to become more inclusive and accessible to all.
What will be covered:
- Get an overview of the Xcessible toolkit’s purpose, benefits, and how it supports more inclusive club environments.
- Learn how your club can welcome members of all abilities on the hill, at the crag, and within club activities.
- Use simple tools to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improving accessibility.
This workshop is perfect for committee members and any club members who are interested in improving club culture and help equip you with the tools needed to be more inclusive.
Welcoming Youths to Clubs
Join us on 24th Feb @ 7pm for an informative workshop designed to support clubs in creating a welcoming and safe environment for young people.
What will be covered:
- The benefits of involving young people in clubs.
- Removing the myth of regulation - understanding what is required (and what’s not)
- How MI can support clubs to include youths in their club.
- Resources and supports available to make things as simple as possible.
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in making their club more youth friendly.
Youth Climbing Workshop
Join us on 3rd March @ 7pm for a practical and engaging workshop designed to strengthen youth climbing clubs and build stronger connections between parents, coaches, and clubs.
What will be covered:
- The essential “know-how” for running safe, structured, and fun youth climbing sessions.
- How parents can contribute without needing to be experts.
- Training pathway for parents to stay engaged.
- How to recruit, retain and upskill both parents and kids.
