Photos featured in previous editions has been widely praised, and we are keen to continue raising the standard and showcasing the very best of our community’s talent.
If you’ve ever browsed the magazine and felt you had an image worthy of publication, we would love to see it!
Please review the submission guidelines below and send us up to three images by Monday, 2nd March. The overall winning image will be featured on the cover of the Mountain Log and the winner will receive a €150 gift voucher for The Great Outdoors. A runner-up will receive a €100 gift voucher.
Guidelines for submitting photos:
- Photos should be portrait format (ideally 4:3), or suitable for cropping to that shape.
- The photo should include a person or people hillwalking or climbing on the island of Ireland (it is preferable that the people should not be clearly recognisable).
- Photos should be submitted as Jpeg files, ideally 3mb – 10mb in file size.
- Limit of 3 entries per person

- Competition deadline is Monday 02nd March 2026 for The Great Outdoors.
*Submission of images constitutes permission for Mountaineering Ireland to use the photographs in future print and digital communications.
