GDPR & Members

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive, which will have an impact on how Mountaineering Ireland at all levels, engages with its members.

It is important that all members are aware of how these changes in the law will affect the ways in which members’ personal information can be collected and used.

The GDPR emphasises transparency, security and accountability by data controllers, while at the same time standardising and strengthening the right of European citizens to data privacy.
