Mountaineering Ireland is the representative body for walkers and climbers in Ireland.

Mountaineering Ireland offers information and training to promote safety, self-reliance and the enjoyment of our mountain environment.

We campaign to protect Ireland’s mountains and to protect access rights in the uplands.

Joining Mountaineering Ireland has many benefits for hillwalkers and helps you meet likeminded people, make new friends, see new places, acquire new skills, but most of all have fun while exercising.

You can either join Mountaineering Ireland as an individual member or by joining one of our many clubs.

Ireland has some great hillwalking to offer from the rolling uplands to hiking the heights of Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain.

The scenery is wild and varied - from meandering valleys, deep lochs and spectacular hills to its windswept coastline. With a variety of scenery and plenty of challenges there are routes suitable for all ages and all levels.

Here you will find lots of useful information, techniques and skills, but if you cannot find what you are looking for please contact us.
