COMERAGH CROSSING AND CHALLENGE

Dungarvan Hillwalking Club is delighted to host the annual Comeragh Crossing and Challenge Walks on 5th July 2025, with four different levels of walking, as follows:

Comeragh Challenge.

Clonmel to Kilgobinet Sports Centre, Bohadoon. This self navigated walk is 45kms, has an ascent 2,000m (approx) and is aimed at the very experienced and fit walker with navigation skills. It takes walkers over the high points of the Comeraghs

Comeragh Crossing.

Clonmel to Kilgobinet Sports Centre, Bohadoon. This walk is 35kms and takes walkers via Long hill, Punch Bowl and the slopes of Knockanaffrin to the Nire Valley, then Coumfea, Seefin, Treenearla Commons, Mauma Road and Cruachan. Mainly on mountain terrain and has an ascent of 1,250m (approx). Club marshals and sweepers will be on the route.

Nire Valley Walk

The Nire Valley car park to Kilgobinet Sports Centre, Bohadoon. This walk is 20kms long and has an ascent of 900m (approx) and follows the same route as the Crossing from the Nire Valley. Club marshals and sweepers will be on the route.

Kilbrien Walk.

Looped walk from Kilgobinet Sports Centre, Bohadoon. This walk is 12 kms and has an ascent of 350m (approx). Club marshals and sweepers will be on the route.

Registration for all walks is online and check in is at Kilgobinet Sports Centre, Bohadoon, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. Bus transport to the walk start, and a hot meal at the finish is included in the entry fee. All four walks finish at Kilgobinet Sports Centre where showers are available.

 

By participating, you are making a contribution to our three chosen charities South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association, Waterford Hospice, and Dungarvan Lions Club.
