Title:  National Walking Day 2021
Date:  06/09/2021

We want this year, on National Walking Day, to both celebrate and promote the power of walking. Walking was the accessible activity that got us all through 2021.

Our week of celebrations start on Monday 20th September and will conclude on our 2nd annual National Walking Day, on Sunday 26th Septemberas part of European Week of Sport.

We know last year that 3.1 million people walkedRecent Sport Ireland/ IPSOS MRBI research from the first quarter of 2021, show that 76% of adults are still walking.

Let us make National Walking Day the day where 100% of adults participate!

Let’s put this date in everybody’s calendar and walk, hike, run, push and roll that day and do it for you!

We have some amazing Ambassadors supporting our week of walking and our campaign will start on social media on the 30th of August. We’ll be working with the network of Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) to facilitate this week.

Our main hashtag is #NWD2021 and we would appreciate if you can use this in anything you post or share. The rest of the hashtags are:

#WalkforYou #WalkYourArea #WalkYourTown #HiddenGems #HappyHiking#WalkYourHills

We will also be promoting specific National Walking Days events that will be held by the participating clubs/organisations
