Love This Place, Leave No Trace this summer

Love This Place, Leave No Trace is a new national public awareness campaign, led by Leave No Trace Ireland. The campaign focuses on critical pressure points, which have become more evident with greater numbers of people ‘stay-cationing’ and using outdoor spaces for recreation during the Covid pandemic.

Those pressure points include:

-          Increased littering of the countryside and outdoor spaces;

-          An increase in dog fouling, sheep worrying and attacks on livestock, possibly related to increased dog ownership;

-          The devastation that can be caused by fires from campfires and barbeques that get out of control;

-          Inconsiderate parking blocking entrances and narrow roads.

Mountaineering Ireland is appealing to all its members to support this campaign through responsible enjoyment of the outdoors and by sharing the Love This Place, Leave No Trace message on social media. This will encourage greater care for Ireland's outdoor spaces, countryside and wildlife, and help ensure that people have positive outdoor experiences this summer.

The Love This Place, Leave No Trace campaign is led by Leave No Trace Ireland in partnership with Sport Ireland, the National Parks & Wildlife Service, the Department of Rural & Community Development, the Office of Public Works, Fáilte Ireland, Waterways Ireland, Coillte and Dublin City Council.
