Title:  Getting back to hillwalking and climbing
Date:  28/04/2020

Mountaineering Ireland would like to thank all hillwalkers and climbers for adhering to the restrictions put in place in order to keep everyone within our sports and the wider community safe from Covid-19.

Although we are uncertain when the restrictions will ease, we expect that over the coming weeks and months that there will be a phased return to sports. Hillwalking and climbing are ideal sports to be reintroduced early on as they naturally lend themselves to physical distancing.

Mountaineering Ireland is working for the reintroduction of hillwalking and climbing. We are engaging with key partners and stakeholders and are in the process of developing guidance for hillwalkers and climbers to assist with the safe return to our sports.

Mountaineering Ireland would welcome your input regarding the reintroduction of hillwalking and climbing. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact us.
