Covid-19: Mountaineering Ireland Update – Friday 13th March 2020

As advised by the Government of Ireland yesterday, there has been a step change in terms of the advice from the Public Health experts, in particular the advice to limit social contacts and to cancel indoor events catering for 100 people or more and outdoor events with 500 or more until the 29th  March, when further announcements will be made on events after that date. In light of this advice, the following events have been postponed by Mountaineering Ireland:

  • Michael Fewer Lecture in Waterford (scheduled for 19 March 2020)
  • Youth Climbing Round 4 (scheduled for the 18th March 2020)
  • Spring Gathering 2020 (scheduled for the 27th – 29th March 2020)
  • The Wildflowers of Ireland lecture (scheduled for the 2nd April 2020)

Club events:

Mountaineering Ireland advises that all clubs should observe the guidelines issued by the HSE in the Republic of Ireland and the HSC Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland. In particular -

Mountaineering Ireland will be reviewing the evolving situation on a day to day basis and will provide updated advice as appropriate.
