Title:  Junior Irish Climbing League - Round 1
Date:  19/09/2016

With competitions taking place simultaneously in Boulder World Belfast, Gravity Climbing Centre Dublin and the Mardyke Arena Cork the 2016 Junior Irish Climbing League came into being.

The competition attracted almost ninety young climbers across the three rounds. It was the first time taking part in a climbing competition for most climbers and it was a really positive first experience.

This is the first time that the Junior Irish Climbing League has been run. It's purpose is to provide young climbers with a fun and encouraging first experience to competition climbing. The ethos of the Junior Irish Climbing League is to make the competition as accessible and enjoyable for the competitors as possible.

Despite many of the climbers being new to climbing competitions, they very quickly got stuck in and were trying their hearts outs on the routes.

The results from round one are available in the link below:

Round 1 - Ulster - Boulder World Belfast

Round 1 - Leinster - Gravity Climbing Centre

Round 1 - Munster - Mardyke Arena UCC

The Junior Irish Climbing League is sponsored by Edelrid. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the league.

Huge thanks to Boulder World Belfast, Gravity Climbing Centre and Mardyke Arena UCC for hosting round one. Thanks also to Rob Hunter and Eamon O Riain for running the Ulster and Leinster rounds respectively. Finaly, thanks to all the parents who help out and encouraged the competitors.

The next round of the Junior Irish Climbing League takes place on Saturday 8th of October. Round two takes place in the Foyle Arena Derry, Awesome Walls Dublin and Activate Waterford.
