EirGrid Strategy - Mountaineering Ireland members asked to input

EirGrid is currently conducting public consultation on its strategy for the future management of Ireland's electricity transmission grid. Click here to read the strategy.

As some of the proposed routes are close to upland areas this has the potential to impact on upland landscapes and the experience of recreational users in these areas.

Mountaineering Ireland is preparing a submission in response to the consultation, this will be guided by Mountaineering Ireland’s Strategic Development Plan (see here), our policy on built development (see here) and our submission last year regarding the Grid Link proposals for the south east (see here).

These documents were shaped by the views of Mountaineering Ireland members and we are also inviting members to contribute to this submission on EirGrid's strategy. If you are a Mountaineering Ireland member and you would like to make an input, please email your views to before 5pm on Wednesday 3rd June.
