At the 2015 Annual General Meeting the membership of Mountaineering Ireland adopted a new Mountaineering Ireland Safeguarding Policy.

Proposing the policy to the membership, Paul Kellagher, Mountaineering Ireland's Safeguarding Officer and Hanging Rockers club member commented on the importance of having a policy that communicates best practices and can be a really helpful resource for all clubs that support young people within our sport.

The Board of Mountaineering Ireland expressed thanks for the work Paul and Anne Kane, Mountaineering Ireland's Youth Development Co-ordinator did to bring the policy to the final stage. The Board would also like to thank all members and clubs who provided feedback during the consultation phase.

Hard copies are available from Mountaineering Ireland but the policy can be downloaded online.
