Title:  Sport Ireland Audit Completed
Date:  04/08/2022

Following on from the update provided to our members at the AGM on the 16th May 2022, Mountaineering Ireland is pleased to confirm that the audit findings identified by KOSI Corporation, who led this process on behalf of Sport Ireland have been successfully completed, that Mountaineering Ireland’s work with Sport Ireland on this matter is at an end and that Sport Ireland has closed off the audit. Mountaineering Ireland is also fully compliant with the Governance Code for Sport. Commenting on the audit process, Mountaineering Ireland CEO, Murrough McDonagh noted “This has been both a challenging and extremely rewarding process, one that started in April 2021 and was closed off successfully by Sport Ireland a number of weeks ago. In total 16 findings were identified by the auditors, 13 of which were completed by the end of 2021 and the remaining 3 were completed at the Mountaineering Ireland Board meeting at the end of May 2022. Whilst the findings related to processes and structures for the most part and none relating to financial procedures, our period working with Sport Ireland and the auditors has allowed us to increase our capacity in areas where some extra support was needed. I would like to thank the auditors and Sport Ireland for their steadfast support during this time and the Board of Mountaineering Ireland for their commitment to the process”.
