New video on hillfarmers and walkers

Mountaineering Ireland has launched a short video highlighting the relationship between hillfarmers and walkers.

The four-minute video provides a refreshing glimpse into the lives of three west of Ireland hillfarmers. The farmers interviewed, all from the Leenane area, speak frankly about farming, walkers and their love of the mountains.

The video, which was shot on a showery day during spring, includes spectacular footage of the mountains, as well as a few cute lambs.

Response to the video has been hugely positive, with more than a 1,000 views in less than a week. The video is available on Mountaineering Ireland’s YouTube channel as part of a suite of skills videos covering climbing techniques, ropework, map-reading and navigation. These videos are a valuable resource for all walkers and climbers and those delivering training to others.

Mountaineering Ireland extends sincere thanks to Bernard King, Michael Laffey, James O'Neill and Brian Gibbons for their time and their willingness to take part in the video. The video was commissioned by Mountaineering Ireland and filmed and produced by Richard Creagh.
