System Date: 09/012015
Mountaineering Ireland's Youth Alpine initiative commenced last weekend (6-8 Feb) with twenty six hugely enthusiastic youths beginning their preparations for the Alps. Over the next five months the participants both on the hillwalking and rock climbing pathways will develop their skills at the hands of an equally enthusiastic groups of volunteers.

In the Mourne Mountains last weekend the group got the opportunity to refresh their navigation and route finding skills, get used to equipment and importantly get to know each other.

Mountaineering Ireland would like to thank all those who volunteered to support this initiative. The initiative was well over-subscribed with volunteers. The volunteers participated in a safeguarding workshop, led by Mountaineering Ireland's Safeguarding Officer and Hanging Rockers club member Paul Kellagher.
