Mountain Log Summer 2025

MOUNTAIN LOG TRAINING 96 “Sometimes you just need to change your altitude.” – Anonymous TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Over one weekend in May, Mountaineering Ireland hosted a successful pre-alpine training day, skills workshops in Glendalough and a ‘try climb’ day in UCD as part of an annual Vision Sport Ireland event. These are just some of the many Mountaineering Ireland training opportunities to support your engagement in mountaineering in all its facets. The team of qualified instructors and approved training providers are there to help you along your pathway, whatever that may mean to you. Continued learning, like adventure, opens doors and keeps you engaged for long-term participation. The Mountaineering Ireland Summer Alpine Meet in Argentière, Chamonix has close to 60 participants, and whilst the courses are now fully booked, it may still be possible to attend as a registrant and take the opportunity to find walking, climbing or mountaineering partners for your own adventures. This flagship event also provides members with affordable and essential alpine training and offers youth members subsidies, which demonstrates Mountaineering Ireland’s commitment to youth participation, learning and safety. Regular attendees, Guides, Leaders and the Training Officer support and mentor newer and less experienced participants, a practice that is at the core of all Mountaineering Ireland meets. All of which helps foster a sense of adventure through training and education. Pictured this page: On a Skills Workshop in Glendalough.
