Mountain Log Summer 2025

85 MOUNTAIN LOG HILLWALKING Angela Carlin, a seasoned Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (MCI) and long-time contributor to the Women With Altitude event, led a “Community of Practice” day on the Friday for all instructors and observers involved in the event. The day was co-delivered by fellow MCI holders Orla Prendergast and Claire Hardy. This informal training was an opportunity for knowledge-sharing amongst instructors working on courses over the weekend and trainees who were assigned to observe. The day included open discussions on progressing through climbing awards, assessment preparation and practical instruction tips. The opening evening began with a warm welcome and presentation from Teresa O’Hare of the Mourne Heritage Trust. The evening continued with a fun and lively meet-and-greet quiz, helping everyone to get to know each other and settle in for the weekend. We were delighted to have Ciara Munnelly from Sport Ireland and Rebecca Hope from Sport NI join us to experience the magic of this special event.
