MOUNTAIN LOG NEWS 19 BOOKLET ON ACCESS TO THE OUTDOORS Mountaineering Ireland has worked with other members of Comhairle na Tuaithe, the national advisory body on outdoor recreation, to produce a new publication on access to the outdoors in Ireland and relevant provisions in the Occupiers’ Liability Act. The booklet was launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary TD at the National Outdoor Recreation Conference in Limerick on June 26th. Speaking at the conference, Mountaineering Ireland CEO Liam Feeley said “I’m proud that Mountaineering Ireland has led the development of this booklet on behalf of Comhairle na Tuaithe. It will improve understanding and help support responsible outdoor recreation. “I thank our Access & Environment Manager Helen Lawless for her work on the booklet, and I extend sincere thanks to barrister and Mountaineering Ireland member Cormac Ó Dúlacháin for his voluntary input.” Titled ‘Recreation in Ireland’s Outdoors,’ the booklet is aimed at landowners and everyone who uses Ireland’s outdoors for recreation, education or related activities.
