Training Providers

Who can provide what?
Mountaineering lends itself extremely well to an apprentice and mentor style of training. Many of us learn through either our own self discovery of the hills or by following along with our peers. The promotion of independence and self reliance whether as a solo mountaineer or as part of a group should be encouraged and the choice of how to gain and expand your knowledge should be left open to the choice of the individual. However when training is towards gaining National Governing Body qualifications where the individual will be taken on the role of a leader and guide of others, a structure, and quantifiable approach is essential. One of the reasons that we have this structured approach, designed to present clearly identifiable levels of experience and qualifications is so that those working in the mountaineering industry can present their level of expertise to perspective clients. However many trainees working their way through the training and assessment levels may simple be more inclined to do so for their own personal satisfaction and knowledge in their ability. For more information on qualifications and levels in mountaineering see the training flow chart.

Training Providers

Quality assurance
BOS providers offer mountain training to all levels and abilities, to individuals and groups, through both a formal and informal setting. Courses can be tailored to your needs, pace and vision depending on what your final goal may be, if no goal is in sight maybe we can help you see beyond your horizon and help start you on your journey.

BOS providers can offer you an assurance of quality training. They are experienced personal mountaineers with a passion for what they teach. They have proved themselves as competent and safe leaders and teachers under the assessments recognised through the Irish and UK national governing bodies of Mountaineering.
