Youth Climbing League

The Youth Climbing League is a fun and friendly climbing competition for young climbers. It is an ideal opportunity for those who would like to gain some initial experience of competition climbing.

Introduction

The Youth Climbing League is organised on a provincial basis, with two rounds each taking place in Ulster, Leinster and Munster. The first round of the league features bouldering, the second round features routes.

The Youth Climbing League is an ideal opportunity for young climbers who would like to try competition for a first time. The level of difficulty of the climbs is set to make them achievable by the majority of the competitors. A big effort is made to make the atmosphere as friendly and encouraging as possible.

Entry

• Competition entries are accepted on the day of the competition.
• There is no online entry.
• Entry fees are as follows:

• All competitors must fill in a Climbing Competition Registration Form.

Format

Round 1 - Bouldering 

• Each competitor will have ten boulder problems to attempt.
• Each competitor has up to three attempts per boulder problem.
• Points are awarded for reaching the top hold.
• Points are awarded on a reducing scale as follows:

Round 2 - Routes

• Each competitor will have five routes to attempt.
• Routes will be top-roped.
• Each competitor will have two attempts per route.
• Each route will feature five scoring holds.
• Ten points will be awarded for holding the top hold on the first attempt.
• Points are awarded on a reducing scale as follows:
