Big changes to the BOS Mountain Leader Scheme?

Big changes to the BOS Mountain Leader Scheme?

Each year Mountain Ireland organise a number of workshops throughout the country to promote further learning, guidance and opinion on their training schemes. Last weekend in Wicklow, a group of interested and involved mountaineers gathered together to look at the BOS ML scheme. This two day ML refresher workshop is an excellent opportunity for candidates, both trainee and qualified award holders, to go through the ML syllabus in a practical hands on setting.

It is also an important chance for the training office of Mountaineering Ireland to receive feedback and comment from the active users of this important leadership award.

This was the first of many planed workshops for 2009. Have a look through the following photos to see just some of the action covered throughout the weekend.

Discussing the ins and out of different navigation techniques used by the Mountain Leader

Practical route choice and decision making on steep and broken ground

Practicing personal safety techniques for use in emergencies

How to look after others in emergencies

Remembering that it can also be fun

But…always keeping focused
