24 March 2009

Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue fundraiser

With over 25 years of providing a Mountain Rescue Service to the Wicklow / Wexford / Dublin communities, the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue are finally looking to build a place to call home in Kilafin, Trooperstown near Laragh, the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service are proposing to build a new Rescue Centre (details of which are available on

www.wicklowmountainrescue.ie).

The GOIRCMRS need your help with this project. There are a number of ways to do this. As a former member of the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team, Hon. Secretary of the Irish Mountain Rescue Association, having links with UCDMC, IMC, Club Cualann and Mountaineering Ireland and as Chair of Isle of Man Branch of the British Red Cross, Peter O'Shea is looking to provide his assistance to this project.

Between 7th and 11th May Peter will be riding the 984km Tour of Ireland Challenge (details can be found on
www.tourofireland.eu). Peter is looking for your sponsorship for this. All the funds raised will be for the new Rescue Centre. You can donate through www.mycharity.ie/event/tour_of_ireland_challenge/ or directly to the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service. The more money he raises the better as his employer will match fund up to €500.

In Britain and the Isle of Man he is raising money for the British Red Cross. Donations can be given through www.justgiving.com/TOI_POS or directly to Peter O'Shea at British Red Cross, Isle of Man Business Park, Braddan, Isle of Man IM2 2QZ.
